Project Vision
The Ichthus Project creates a free online community for all to participate in a revolutionary comparison between the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the objectives set out by Pope Francis in his encyclical, Laudato Si’, with information supplied by qualified resources, including high-level businesspeople, theologians, and educators. We believe that this international and innovative initiative will change people’s perspectives on how religion and businesses can work together to address the world’s problems, leading to more involved conversations that can make the world a sustainable place for generations to come.

This project is an informative and interactive online platform for a community of collaborators interested in participating in a discussion on the parallels between the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’. We will create a large and diverse network of people from all different backgrounds, such as academia and non-profits, with the intention of opening people to new perspectives, developing further conversation about these two topics, and ultimately, recognizing the need for these two sectors to work together to change the world for the better, since they have similar goals.
What are the main objectives to this project?
The three main, long-term objectives of this project as of now are:
1. Celebrate the commonalities of both the document (Laudato Si’) and the framework on how to address social and environmental issues (UN SDG’s)
2. Encourage people to collaborate together in parts in an open platform for communication
3. Open doors to new uses in ministry for all religions all over the world
