What we’re looking for: We are looking for a constructive and interactive discussion based on the SDG/ Laudato Si’ topic of preserving life on land. The data provided by the United Nations shows that progress of maintaining life on land has been good and bad, depending on the problem being addressed. For example, the protection of areas crucial to biodiversity, the maintenance of sustainable forests, and forest growth are all on the rise. However, issues like decreasing land productivity and biodiversity loss through trafficking and poaching of wildlife are still not effectively addressed or managed. Pope Francis comments on the issue in Laudato Si’ by demonstrating his awareness of the current situation, writing about species being lost due to deforestation and as a result, this biodiversity goes unappreciated.
